KW Makes a Move

The White Sox picked up outfielder Nick Swisher from the Oakland Athletics today. In exchange they gave up Ryan Sweeny (sorry ladies), prospect Fautino De Los Santos (who?) and pitcher Gio Gonzalez (yes, again). Sweeney was once considered one of the best prospects in the American League, but that was about five years ago. He's been a good, dependable player for the A's the last few years, but he has never achieved greatness. After turning 27 several weeks ago, are his best years yet to come? If you average what he's done the last three seasons, you come up with almost 30 home runs, 80-some RBI's, .250-something avg but a .360ish OBP. If Swisher stays healthy and can produce those kind of numbers, it is a serious upgrade over any other Sox outfielder contending for a starting spot. But I'm not so sure if he can patrol center field well, and someone has to do it this year. Since Just Baseball is now dormant, anyone care to comment?
